Happy Mother’s Day!

𝐁𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐌𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫’𝐬 𝐃𝐚𝐲!

This is a Mother’s Day like we have never experienced before. With the COVID-19 restrictions, people are unable to gather to celebrate together. There will be new and creative ways to connect with mothers, grandmothers and special mother figures this year.

Over the last few months we have seen and experienced novel ways of celebrating Easter, birthdays and other milestones. ‘Drive by’ processions with balloons and music, drinks ‘shared’ over FaceTime or other online platforms, and cakes and songs through the windows at nursing homes. Mother’s Day today in Victoria will be similar.

Although Mother’s Day is a happy occasion for many, for others it gives rise to feelings of sadness and loss. Loss of a loved one is felt strongly on special days. Some may have lost their mother or mother figure recently, or over the years, and some women may have miscarried, had a stillborn baby or have had difficulty conceiving. Others may have a strained relationship with their mother. Mother’s Day can be difficult.

Sending best wishes this Mother’s Day. Enjoy the celebrations and remember loved ones. Take care of yourself.
